BJP Postpones Secretariat Gherao in Wake of Rajouri Flood Tragedy: Altaf Thakur

Srinagar, July 19: BJP spokesperson and senior party leader Altaf Thakur has confirmed to ANN News that the party has decided to postpone its proposed Secretariat Gherao programme in view of the recent floods and landslides that have caused loss of life in parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to ANN News, Thakur said the decision was taken out of respect for the victims and their families.

“We have lost many people due to the devastating floods and landslides. This is not the time for political programmes. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families, and we stand in solidarity with everyone affected,” Thakur said.

He added that the party believes humanitarian concerns must take precedence during this difficult period and that relief and support for the affected people remain the immediate priority.

The announcement comes amid widespread devastation caused by heavy rainfall, flash floods and landslides in several districts, particularly Rajouri and Poonch, where rescue and relief operations are continuing.
