ACB attaches properties in disproportionate assets case in Srinagar

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday said it has attached several movable and immovable properties belonging to a former Naazir in the office of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar in connection with a disproportionate assets case.

According to an ACB statement, the attached properties belong to Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Late Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, resident of Firdousabad Batamaloo Srinagar, who was posted as Naazir in the office of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar.

The attachment has been carried out in connection with FIR No. 09/2025 registered at Police Station ACB Srinagar.

The attached assets include a single-storey tin-roofed residential house along with six marlas and 172 square feet of land under Survey No.3173/2683/2385/478 min Khewat No. 349 Khata No. 999 at Firdousabad Batamaloo jointly owned by the accused and his spouse; 10 marlas of land under Khasra No. 1820 min Khewat No. 754, Khata No. 1215 at Nambal Nowgam recorded in the name of the accused’s daughter; another four marlas and 136 square feet of land under survey No. 2410 min Khewat No. 316, Khata No. 579 at Nambal Nowgam recorded in the name of his wife; eight marlas and 136 square feet of land at the same location under survey No. 1821 min, Khewat No. 754, Khata No. 1216 recorded also recorded in the name of his wife; and gold ornaments weighing approximately 1,266 grams seized during investigation.

The ACB said the case was registered on May 22, 2025, following a secret verification into allegations that the accused had accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

During investigation, searches were conducted at the residence of the accused, leading to the seizure of copper utensils, gold ornaments and other luxury items. The accused was arrested in the case and is presently on bail under court directions, the statement said.

Further investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly accumulated substantial movable and immovable assets disproportionate to his known income.

After obtaining approval from the competent authority, the ACB constituted two teams headed by Deputy Superintendents of Police to attach the identified properties at Batamaloo and Nowgam in Srinagar.

The statement said all legal formalities were completed before the properties were attached and signboards were erected at the sites informing the public about the attachment.

The ACB has advised the public not to purchase or enter into any transaction involving the attached house or land. — (KIMS)
