38 J&K Police Personnel Awarded Gallantry Medals Ahead of Independence Day

JAMMU, AUG 14: In recognition of bravery and gallant service, 38 personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police have been awarded the Medal for Gallantry (GM) on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day.
The list includes senior police officers as well as personnel from different ranks who have been recognised for acts of courage and distinguished operational service.
Among the prominent awardees are DIG Pande Rajiv Omprakash, IPS; DIG Shiv Kumar, IPS; SSP Shobhit D. Saksena, IPS; SSP Mushtaq Ahmad; SP Nasir Ahmad and SP Divya D, IPS.
The gallantry honours also include recognition for personnel receiving additional bars to the medal. DySP Sarfaraz Bashir has been awarded the second bar to the Medal for Gallantry, while Head Constable Rayeesh Ahmad Reshi and Selection Grade Constable Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan have received the first bar to the gallantry medal.
The honours announced for J&K Police this Independence Day comprise 38 Gallantry Medals, 13 Medals for Meritorious Service and one President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, taking the total number of police personnel recognised to 52.
SSP Shoket Hussain Shah has been awarded the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, while the 13 Meritorious Service Medal recipients include officers and personnel from various ranks.
The annual Independence Day police honours recognise personnel for exceptional courage, gallantry, distinguished service and commitment to duty.
The recognition of 38 J&K Police personnel with gallantry medals highlights the demanding operational environment in which the force continues to discharge its responsibilities and its contribution towards maintaining security and public order in Jammu and Kashmir.
