Several Members of Parliament visited the residence of Baramulla MP Er Rashid to offer condolences and express solidarity with the bereaved family.
A deputation of MPs, including Umesh Patel and Sudhakar Singh, visited Er Rashid today to convey their sympathies to the family. While interacting with the media, the delegation said that there is no shortage of voices in the country that understand and share the pain of the people of Kashmir.
On the occasion, Sudhakar Singh from Bihar, who led the delegation, said, “There is no doubt that the people of Kashmir have suffered a lot and their voices must be heard. We appreciate the concern shown by Er Rashid in Parliament regarding the political and human rights issues of Jammu and Kashmir.”
He further said that the Modi government, by not engaging with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, is further alienating them. He added that keeping Er Rashid continuously incarcerated would weaken the bridge between New Delhi and Kashmir, and that he should be released without further delay so that he can serve his people.
The MPs also interacted with people from different walks of life and assured them that the people of India are not enemies of Kashmiris. They said that all agreements which form the basis of the relationship between New Delhi and the people of Jammu and Kashmir must be respected and honoured.
Sudhakar Singh also said that India is rapidly losing friends in the global community, and that the continued incarceration of Er Rashid disrespects the mandate of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who voted for him despite his imprisonment because he has become a voice for the voiceless.
