“We Stand With Er Rashid, Public Has Given Him Mandate”: MP Sudhakar Singh to ANN NEWS
Srinagar, May 29: Several Members of Parliament on Thursday visited the residence of Baramulla MP Er Rashid to offer condolences and express solidarity with the bereaved family, while also voicing concern over the continued incarceration of the elected parliamentarian.
A delegation of MPs, including Sudhakar Singh and Umesh Patel, met the family members of Er Rashid and interacted with locals during their visit. Speaking exclusively to ANN NEWS, MP Sudhakar Singh said that Er Rashid represents the democratic aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and that the mandate given to him by the public must be respected.
“We stand with Er Rashid. He is a public representative and the people have given him a mandate. Their democratic voice cannot be ignored,” Sudhakar Singh told ANN NEWS.
He further stated that the people of Kashmir have suffered immensely over the years and deserve to be heard with sincerity and dignity. According to him, Er Rashid has emerged as a voice for many people in Jammu and Kashmir, especially after being elected despite remaining behind bars.
The visiting MPs also stressed that democracy becomes stronger when elected representatives are allowed to serve the people freely. They maintained that continued incarceration of Er Rashid weakens trust and widens the gap between New Delhi and the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
During their interaction with local residents, the MPs assured people that many voices across the country stand in solidarity with Kashmiris and believe in protecting democratic rights and constitutional values.
The delegation said that respecting the people’s verdict is essential in a democracy and called for meaningful political engagement with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
