ANANTNAG — Police in Anantnag have detained four persons for questioning following a stone-pelting incident at Pehroo Sherbagh during Isha prayers, officials said.
According to police, an altercation broke out over the offering of prayers at a house converted into a place of worship, following which some miscreants allegedly pelted stones, causing minor damage.
Police immediately reached the spot and brought the situation under control, officials said.
An FIR (No. 404/2026) has been registered in connection with the incident, and four persons have been picked up for questioning. Investigation is underway.
Police have appealed to people not to give any communal colour to the incident or circulate unverified information, adding that the law and order situation remains normal and under control. — (KIMS)
