Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan: Police conducts searched, destroys poppy cultivation, intensifies awareness drives in Pulwama

Pulwama, Apr 25: Continuing its intensified drive under the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Pulwama Police today carried out a series of coordinated enforcement, preventive, and community outreach activities across the district.

As part of robust enforcement measures, Police Station Rajpora conducted an intensive search operation at Kasbyar CB Nath, targeting the residences of suspected drug peddlers. In another major action, a joint team comprising Police Station Litter, Police Post Lassipora, and PST Litter carried out extensive searches in the houses of suspected drug peddlers to curb drug-related activities.

Furthermore, a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched at the identified drug hotspot “Okhoo”, where residential houses and adjoining areas were thoroughly searched to detect any NDPS-related contraband and dismantle illegal drug networks.

In a significant action against illegal narcotics cultivation, poppy plants found clandestinely grown alongside vegetable crops on a piece of land at Singu Narbal were destroyed on the spot, reaffirming Pulwama Police’s zero-tolerance stance against drug-related offences.

Further strengthening regulatory checks, multiple medical shops across the district were inspected to ensure strict compliance with laws governing the sale of psychotropic substances and to prevent their misuse.

On the awareness front, Pulwama Police organised a series of outreach programmes at Government High School Pahoo, Sheikh-ul-Alam School Hawal, Arabal village, and Hayat Computer Institute Pulwama. During these sessions, participants were sensitised about the harmful effects of drug abuse, objectives of the ongoing campaign, and the importance of the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112).

Adding a humanitarian dimension to the campaign, police personnel also actively participated in a blood donation drive, reflecting their commitment towards social responsibility and community welfare.

Pulwama Police reiterates its firm commitment to eliminating the menace of drugs and urges the general public to extend cooperation by sharing any information related to drug trafficking, thereby contributing towards a safer and drug-free society.
