Fugitive YouTuber Arrested After 31 Years: Delhi Police Crack 1995 Child Kidnapping & Murder Case

 

In a major breakthrough, the Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested Salim Wastik, alias Salim Ahmed, in connection with a chilling 31-year-old kidnapping and murder case from 1995.

 

 

 

 

The accused, who had been absconding for over two decades after jumping bail, was apprehended from Loni in Ghaziabad following a precise tip-off. Police confirmed his identity through old records, fingerprints, and photographic evidence.

 

 

 

 

 

The case dates back to January 20, 1995, when 13-year-old Sandeep Bansal, son of a Delhi-based businessman, was kidnapped on his way to school. A ransom of ₹30,000 was demanded, but despite the threats, the child was brutally killed. His body was later recovered from a drain in Mustafabad.

 

 

 

 

Investigations had earlier led to the arrest of Salim, a martial arts trainer at the victim’s school, along with his associate. Both were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in 1997. However, in 2000, Salim secured interim bail from the Delhi High Court and disappeared.

 

 

 

 

For years, he evaded arrest by assuming a new identity, even faking his death. Living as a YouTuber and self-styled social activist, he moved across Haryana and Uttar Pradesh before settling in Loni, where he ran a clothing business.

Shockingly, despite being a fugitive, he built a social media presence and was reportedly in talks for a film based on his life.

 

 

 

 

Police say the arrest marks the culmination of persistent tracking and intelligence efforts, bringing long-awaited justice in a case that shocked the nation.
