Iltija Mufti accuses Delhi Police of ‘manhandling’ Priyanka Gandhi

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti on Tuesday accused the Delhi Police of manhandling Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi and alleged that police forces were increasingly being used to intimidate political opponents instead of maintaining law and order.

In a post on X, Mufti said, “Shame on Delhi Police for manhandling Priyanka Gandhi ji.”

Drawing a comparison with Jammu and Kashmir, she alleged that women police personnel are routinely deployed to prevent peaceful protests by her party.

“In Kashmir too every time we try to protest peacefully, women guards are specially deployed to stop us,” she wrote.

Mufti further alleged that police were no longer being used to uphold law and order, but had instead become “a weapon to intimidate political opponents.”

Her remarks came amid political reactions over the alleged handling of Priyanka Gandhi by the Delhi Police during a protest. — (KIMS)
