CM Omar Abdullah reviews rain situation across J&K, orders swift relief measures

JAMMU (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday chaired a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu to review the situation arising from incessant rains and assess the preparedness of the administration across the Union Territory.

During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir briefed the Chief Minister on the prevailing weather conditions, the impact of the rainfall and the measures being taken to tackle weather-related challenges.

The Chief Minister reviewed the availability of essential supplies, including food, medicines and drinking water, in all districts and directed the administration to remain on high alert. He instructed officials to closely monitor vulnerable areas, ensure a prompt response to emergencies and keep men, machinery and essential services ready to safeguard lives and property.

He also stressed the need for effective coordination among departments, immediate outreach to affected families, timely relief and all possible assistance. The Chief Minister further directed officials to ensure the speedy restoration of road connectivity and power supply wherever these have been disrupted due to the adverse weather. — (KIMS)
