Bodies of Boy, Girl Retrieved from Power Canal in Thune, Ganderbal
Ganderbal, September 7: The bodies of a boy and a girl who were reportedly seen jumping into a power canal in the Thune area of Kangan, Ganderbal, have been retrieved following an intensive search and rescue operation, officials said.
The deceased boy has been identified as Irshad Ahmad Kahi, son of Mohammad Sharif Kahi, a resident of Thune. The identity of the girl has been withheld.
Following the incident, teams from Kangan Police, SDRF and local rescuers launched a coordinated search operation in and around the power canal.
After sustained efforts, the bodies of the two victims were recovered from the canal.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and are ascertaining the circumstances that led to the tragedy. Further details are awaited.(KNC)
