Budgam, May 09 : Continuing its intensified drive against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Budgam Police achieved a major success by arresting two drug peddlers and recovering a commercial quantity of contraband substance in Khansahib area of district Budgam.
The operation was carried out by a police party of Police Post Waterihal during naka checking at Rawalpora. During the checking, one individual identified as Nazir Ahmad Ganie S/o Abdul Rehman Ganie R/o Rakhayee Arizal was intercepted and subsequently apprehended. During his personal search, 27 grams of charas-like substance concealed in corn husks was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, FIR No. 92/2026 under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Khansahib and investigation was initiated.
During the course of investigation on backward linkage, involvement of another person namely Mohd Rafiq Khan S/o Ab Rehman Khan R/o Arizal was established from whom approximately 7 Kg 740 grams of charas-like substance was recovered.
Both the accused are arrested and the investigation is underway to identify others linked with the narcotics network.
Budgam Police reiterates its commitment towards a zero-tolerance policy against drug menace and appeals to the general public to cooperate in making Budgam drug-free by sharing information regarding drug-related activities with the nearest police establishment.
