Two-Day Training Programme on Pre-Hospital Trauma Care and Management Conducted for EMTs Ahead of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra
Baramulla, Jun 19: A two-day training programme on Pre-Hospital Trauma Care and Management was organized for Emergency Medical Technicians of 108 Jammu & Kashmir Emergency Medical Services at the Regional Institute of Health and Family Welfare, Dhobiwan, Baramulla, in preparation for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY).
The training aimed to strengthen the knowledge and skills of EMTs and enhance their preparedness for deployment during the yatra. Sessions covered key areas including Basic Life Support (BLS), trauma patient assessment and management, respiratory emergencies, environmental emergencies, mass casualty incident management, triage and management of high-altitude sickness.
On the first day, Dr. Asif Chaudhary, Program Manager, NHM, and Mr. Junaid Zaroo, Assistant Program Manager, NHM, attended the training programme and interacted with the participants.
The training was facilitated by Dr. Ali Sheikh and Dr. Mir Abid, who provided hands-on training and practical demonstrations to the participants.
On the second day, Er. Sajid Amin, Nodal Officer, 108/102 Services, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, attended the programme and appreciated the vital role of 108 ambulance services, describing them as the backbone of the healthcare emergency response system.
He emphasized the importance of continuous skill upgradation and preparedness to ensure effective pre-hospital care and timely medical assistance during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
Mushtaq Ahmed, Project Head, 108 Jammu & Kashmir Emergency Medical Services, informed that every year 20 to 25 Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support ambulances are strategically deployed at various locations along the Chandanwari and Baltal routes to provide timely medical services to pilgrims undertaking the yatra.
The programme concluded with practical demonstrations, interactive sessions and an assessment of participants, reaffirming the commitment of 108 J&K Emergency Medical Services towards strengthening emergency healthcare delivery during SANJY 2026.
