Police arrest 2 more in Bandipora prison-linked terror module case; tally reaches 8

SRINAGAR — Police in Bandipora have arrested two more persons in connection with an alleged prison-linked module of a banned organisation, which is under investigation for allegedly targeting women to propagate separatist ideology and propaganda, officials said on Friday.

The module was earlier busted by Bandipora Police, and investigators are probing its alleged links, network and activities, taking the total number of arrests in the case to eight.

The latest arrests were made in connection with FIR No. 168/2026, registered under Sections 10 and 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), police said.

The accused have been identified as Irshad Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Chakloo in Baramulla district, and Showkat Ahmed Reshi, a resident of Watlab in Sopore.

Both have been taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the case.

Further investigation is underway to establish their individual roles, trace other possible associates and ascertain the wider network and links of the alleged module, police said.

More arrests are expected as the investigation progresses. — (KIMS)
