LG Manoj Sinha reviews rain situation in J&K, orders intensified rescue operations

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday reviewed the ground situation in districts affected by heavy rains, flash floods and landslides across Jammu and Kashmir and directed the authorities to intensify rescue and relief operations.

In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor said he spoke with senior officials and was briefed on the ongoing relief efforts being carried out by the district administrations, SDRF, NDRF, Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army, Border Roads Organisation (BRO), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Health, Public Works Department (PWD) and Jal Shakti Department.

Sinha said joint rescue and restoration operations are continuing in Rajouri and Poonch, adding that more than 400 damaged roads in the Jammu division have already been restored.

He directed the officials to position manpower and machinery at safe and strategic locations near vulnerable areas for immediate response and to issue timely advisories discouraging unnecessary travel in high-risk zones.

The Lieutenant Governor also said he spoke to the Deputy Commissioner of Ramban regarding the tragic shooting-stone incident in which two persons lost their lives.

Expressing condolences to the bereaved families, he directed the district administration to ensure the injured receive the best possible medical care and that all necessary support is extended to the affected families. — (KIMS)
