LG Manoj Sinha reviews rain damage in Rajouri, Poonch; says 356 of 435 roads restored
SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday reviewed the damage caused to houses and key public infrastructure in Rajouri and Poonch districts due to heavy rains, flash floods and landslides.
In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor said he spoke with senior officials and the Deputy Commissioners of Rajouri and Poonch to assess the situation in the affected areas.
Sinha said the Divisional Commissioner and Inspector General of Police Jammu are currently on the ground, while all departments have been directed to work round the clock in coordination for rescue, relief and restoration efforts.
He said the administration’s main focus is on reopening key roads and restoring power and water supplies. The Lieutenant Governor added that out of 435 damaged roads, 356 have already been restored.
Sinha urged people to avoid non-essential travel in vulnerable areas and strictly follow safety advisories issued by the district administrations.
He said teams of SDRF, NDRF, Army, Border Roads Organisation (BRO), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Jammu and Kashmir Police and Civil Defence are working together, with Quick Response teams deployed in vulnerable locations.
Expressing anguish over the loss of lives in the natural calamity, the Lieutenant Governor conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured. — (KIMS)
