Govt High School Hapatnard Renamed After Martyr Syed Adil Hussain ShahAnantnag, May 20: In a solemn ceremony held at Hapatnard area of Pahalgam, Sakina Itoo on Tuesday attended the official renaming ceremony of Government High School Hapatnard in memory of martyr Syed Adil Hussain Shah, who was martyred in the Baisaran Pahalgam attack on April 22, 2025.

Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo attended the programme as the chief guest, while Altaf Kaloo participated as the guest of honour. Director School Education Kashmir, Chief Education Officer Anantnag, senior officials from various departments, teachers, students and local residents were also present on the occasion.

The school was formally renamed as a tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the martyr. The ceremony began with floral tributes and prayers, followed by speeches remembering the bravery and service of Syed Adil Hussain Shah.

Speaking on the occasion, Sakina Itoo said the sacrifices of brave individuals who lay down their lives for peace and humanity can never be forgotten. She termed the renaming of the institution a meaningful step to preserve the memory and legacy of the martyr for future generations.

MLA Pahalgam Altaf Kaloo also paid rich tributes to the martyr and said the people of the area stand united in remembering and honouring his sacrifice. He said educational institutions named after martyrs serve as a lasting inspiration for students and society alike.

Director School Education Kashmir and CEO Anantnag also addressed the gathering and appreciated the initiative, stating that such recognitions help instill values of courage, patriotism and dedication among students.
A large number of locals, students and officials participated in the programme and remembered the martyr with emotional tributes. The event concluded with prayers for eternal peace to the departed soul and solidarity with the bereaved family.
