GMC Anantnag Issues Social Media Guidelines for Employees, Students and Staff

Anantnag, May 20: Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag has issued a comprehensive circular regulating the use of social media by employees, officials, outsourced staff and students associated with the institution and its allied hospitals.

 

According to the circular issued by the administration, the move has been taken in view of increasing use of social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), Telegram and YouTube in ways considered inconsistent with institutional discipline, professional ethics and government instructions.

 

The order directs all concerned not to upload, circulate or share any confidential, patient-related or institution-related documents, images, videos or information on social media without proper authorization.

 

The circular also prohibits employees, students and outsourced staff from commenting on government policies, institutional functioning, workplace matters, senior officers, patients or colleagues on social media platforms.

 

Further, the administration has strictly barred photography and videography inside hospital premises, including operation theatres, wards, emergency areas and academic sections, without official permission.

 

The order warns against posting vulgar, defamatory, misleading, communal or objectionable content that could affect the reputation and functioning of GMC Anantnag and its associated hospitals.

 

Speaking on the issue, Administrative Officer GMC Anantnag, Muqbil Lateef Hussain, said the circular has been issued in accordance with government guidelines to ensure discipline, patient confidentiality and responsible use of social media within the institution.

 

The administration has also directed all Heads of Departments, Medical Superintendents and section heads to ensure wide circulation and strict compliance of the order among all concerned.
