CM Omar Abdullah reviews rain situation from Delhi, orders early restoration, relief measures

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday chaired another online review meeting from New Delhi to assess restoration works, relief measures and the overall preparedness of the administration in the wake of heavy rainfall across parts of the Union Territory.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister said the meeting was informed that electricity supply in Poonch is expected to be restored by Tuesday evening. He also reviewed the status of roads affected by the rains and directed the authorities to ensure their earliest possible restoration.

Abdullah instructed the administration to maintain focused attention on vulnerable habitations, strictly regulate traffic in landslide- and shooting-stone-prone areas, and ensure adequate availability of food and other essential supplies.

He also directed advance distribution of rations wherever necessary.

Expressing concern over the waterlogging witnessed in Srinagar city on Monday, the Chief Minister directed the authorities to take proactive measures to address the issue by pre-positioning men and machinery at vulnerable locations to ensure swift dewatering and effective drainage. — (KIMS)
