CM congratulates J&K artisans on receiving National Handloom Award
SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday congratulated artisan weavers Manzoor Ahmad Hajam and Fayaz Ahmad Wani on receiving the prestigious National Handloom Award from the President of India.
According to a post on X by the Office of the Chief Minister, the two artisans were recognised for their exceptional craftsmanship in weaving the traditional Chanddar Kani Shawl.
The Chief Minister said their achievement celebrates the rich legacy and artistic excellence of Jammu and Kashmir’s handloom tradition.
Abdullah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering local artisans, preserving traditional heritage and promoting indigenous crafts on national and global platforms. — (KIMS)
