ACB registers case against former Patwari for demanding ₹5 lakh bribe in Kishtwar

JAMMU — The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against Mohd Arif Mir, the then Patwari of Patwar Halqa Trigam in Kishtwar, for allegedly demanding and accepting illegal gratification in connection with the issuance of a Fard.

According to the ACB, FIR No. 02/2026 has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended, at Police Station ACB Doda against Mir, son of Ghulam Abbas Mir and resident of Malipeth, near Grid Station, Kishtwar.

The case was registered following a verification conducted by ACB DKR Jammu into a complaint alleging that the accused, while serving as a public servant, abused his official position by demanding ₹5 lakh from the complainant for issuing a Fard.

The ACB said the accused allegedly accepted ₹3 lakh through a cheque as illegal gratification, following which the Fard was issued.

During the investigation, the ACB obtained a search warrant from the competent court and conducted a search at the accused’s residential house in Malipeth, Kishtwar, in the presence of a Magistrate and independent witnesses.

Further investigation into the case is underway. — (KIMS)
