Jammu & Kashmir Hoteliers Club Organises Plantation Drive in Gulmarg, Announces More Green & Heritage Initiatives

 

Gulmarg, August 6: The Jammu & Kashmir Hoteliers Club (JKHC) today organised a plantation drive in Gulmarg as part of its commitment to environmental conservation, sustainable tourism and responsible hospitality.

 

The plantation drive was led by Pirzada Farooq Ahmad Shah, Hon’ble MLA, Gulmarg Constituency, in the presence of Syed Qamar Sajjad (JKAS), Director Tourism, Kashmir, Tariq Hussain Naik, Chief Executive Officer, Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), Jahid Azad (JKAS), Assistant Director, Tourism Department, Mr. Ajaz and Mr. Feroz Ahmad, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), along with the office bearers and members of the Jammu & Kashmir Hoteliers Club. School children also participated enthusiastically, making the event a meaningful community initiative to promote environmental awareness and ecological responsibility.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Abdul Wahid Malik, Honorary Secretary General, JKHC, said that the Club is committed to organising a series of plantation and environmental conservation drives across Jammu & Kashmir in the coming months. He emphasised that the hospitality industry has a shared responsibility to protect the fragile ecosystem of Kashmir and contribute towards a greener future.

 

Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad Shah, Honorary Joint Secretary, JKHC, said that such plantation campaigns will now be undertaken on a much larger scale under the Club’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, with active participation from hotels, tourism stakeholders, educational institutions and local communities.

 

The Club also announced that, in an effort to preserve Gulmarg’s rich heritage and promote traditional tourism activities, it plans to organise horse riding and horse polo promotion initiatives during the month of August. These programmes aim to boost the morale of local stakeholders, encourage youth participation and revive Gulmarg’s historic association with equestrian sports.

 

The Jammu & Kashmir Hoteliers Club reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Tourism Department, Gulmarg Development Authority, Forest Department and other stakeholders to promote sustainable tourism, environmental conservation and community-driven initiatives across the Union Territory.
