Police busts drug supply chain in Jammu; three held with heroin, cash seized
JAMMU (KIMS) — Police in Jammu on Thursday has arrested three alleged drug peddlers and seized heroin, cash, electronic weighing machines and other incriminating material in a crackdown under the Nasha Mukt Jammu campaign.
According to police, the action stems from an operation carried out on July 27, when a police team intercepted a Mahindra Thar (registration No. JK02CH5936) during routine naka checking in the Channi Himmat area at around 6:40 pm.
During the vehicle search, police recovered two syringes, including one filled with a suspected narcotic substance and another empty syringe.
The driver, identified as Mohd Tabish Saleem, son of Mohd Saleem and a resident of Mendhar, was found carrying around 6 grams of a heroin-like substance. Another 6 grams of a heroin-like substance was recovered from the co-passenger, Mohd Irfan, son of Dulla and a resident of Raika, Bahu Fort.
Following the recovery, FIR No. 218/2026 was registered at Police Station Channi Himmat under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, and an investigation was launched.
During the investigation, police traced the alleged supply chain and arrested another accused, Aijaz Choudhary alias Ajju, son of Fateh Din and a resident of Channi Rama.
Police said the search of the accused led to the recovery of two electronic weighing machines, six mobile phones, ₹28,000 in cash and one syringe, all of which were seized as evidence.
Police said efforts are underway to establish the forward and backward linkages of the narcotics network and identify other individuals involved in the illegal drug trade. — (KIMS)
