Two FIRs registered in Shopian for violating firecracker ban at weddings

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday registered two FIRs in connection with incidents of firecracker bursting during marriage ceremonies in alleged violation of prohibitory orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian.

According to a police statement, the action was taken despite repeated public advisories and the enforcement of the District Magistrate’s orders prohibiting the use of firecrackers.

Police said the restrictions were violated during wedding celebrations, following which FIR Nos. 148/2026 and 151/2026 were registered at Police Station Shopian and investigations were initiated.

Police reiterated that the prohibitory orders remain in force and will be enforced strictly.

The statement warned that any person found violating the orders will face legal action in accordance with the law. — (KIMS)
