From Father to Son: Anantnag Terror Victim HC Aashiq Hussain’s Family Endures Second Tragedy in Line of Duty

Anantnag, July 23: The family of Head Constable Aashiq Hussain, who was martyred in the recent terrorist attack at Lal Chowk in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, has suffered yet another devastating loss in the line of duty.
Aashiq Hussain, who laid down his life while performing his official duties, had himself joined the Jammu and Kashmir Police under the SRO-43 rehabilitation policy after the death of his father, Head Constable Ghulam Mohiuddin Qureshi.
According to available information, Ghulam Mohiuddin Qureshi lost his life after being caught in a landslide while on official duty, following which Aashiq Hussain was appointed in the police department under the compassionate appointment policy.
With Aashiq Hussain’s martyrdom, tragedy has struck the family for the second time. He is survived by his wife and three children, leaving behind a grieving family that has now witnessed two generations making the ultimate sacrifice while serving the people.
The incident has sparked an outpouring of grief across Jammu and Kashmir, with senior police officers, colleagues and citizens paying tribute to the slain policeman and expressing solidarity with his bereaved family.
Security forces have intensified operations in the area to track down the terrorists responsible for the deadly attack.
