LG, CM, Tarigami condemn Anantnag attack; Pay tributes to policeman

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami on Wednesday strongly condemned the terror attack in Anantnag district in which a Jammu and Kashmir Police head constable was killed in the line of duty.

In a post on X, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said he spoke with Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat to review the situation following the attack.

He expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi, saying the entire country stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the family of the martyr.

The Lieutenant Governor strongly condemned the “cowardly attack” and asserted that the “heinous act will not go unpunished.” He said the J&K Police and security forces are on the ground and will bring those responsible to justice.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed grief over the killing of Head Constable Ashiq Hussain of the IRP 3rd Battalion, J&K Police. He said the policeman had made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty in a cowardly terror attack in the Anantnag area of South Kashmir.

The Chief Minister unequivocally condemned the attack and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. He prayed that Allah grants the slain policeman the highest place in Jannat.

CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami also condemned the killing of the policeman, describing the attack as heinous. He said the incident had snuffed out a precious life and termed such acts of violence deeply reprehensible, saying they must be condemned unequivocally.

Tarigami expressed his deepest sympathies with the family, friends and colleagues of the slain policeman during their hour of grief. — (KIMS)
