Anantnag Police Warns Against Sharing Unauthorised Photos, Videos of Lal Chowk Terror Incident; Violators Face Strict Action
Anantnag, July 22 : Anantnag Police on Tuesday issued a stern warning against the circulation of unauthorised photographs, videos, and misleading content related to the recent terror incident at Lal Chowk in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, cautioning that strict legal action will be taken against those found violating the law.
According to a police advisory, several social media users and platforms have been sharing unauthorised visuals, fake photographs, edited videos, and unverified information related to the incident, which can hamper the investigation, create panic among the public, and spread misinformation.
Anantnag Police urged all social media platforms and users to immediately remove any unauthorised or fake content linked to the terror incident without delay. It warned that anyone continuing to circulate such material after the advisory would face strict legal action under the relevant provisions of law.
Police also appealed to the public to act responsibly on social media and refrain from forwarding or uploading unverified information. Citizens have been advised to rely only on official updates issued by the police and other authorised government agencies.
The police reiterated that maintaining public order and preventing the spread of misinformation is a collective responsibility and urged everyone to cooperate with the authorities by avoiding the circulation of unauthorised content.(KNC)
