GMC Anantnag Declares Hospital Premises Tobacco-Free, Bans Smoking, Sale and Purchase of Tobacco Products

Anantnag, July 8: Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag has declared its entire campus a tobacco-free zone by imposing a complete ban on smoking, as well as the sale and purchase of tobacco products within all hospitals, administrative offices and security areas under its jurisdiction.
According to a public notice issued by the hospital administration, the prohibition covers all forms of tobacco use, including smoking and the sale or purchase of tobacco products anywhere inside the GMC premises. The move has been taken to ensure a healthy, clean and safe environment for patients, attendants, visitors and healthcare workers.
The administration has appealed to patients, attendants and the general public to cooperate in strictly implementing the order. It has also warned that any person found smoking or involved in the sale or purchase of tobacco products within the hospital premises will be liable for strict legal action under the relevant laws.
The notification, issued by the Administrative Officer, GMC Anantnag, reiterates the institution’s commitment to promoting a tobacco-free healthcare environment and safeguarding public health.
