U.S. Congress Report Reveals Significant Air Force Losses in Iran War

Washington, June 20: A detailed report prepared by the U.S. Congressional Research Service (CRS) has revealed that 42 American aircraft were either destroyed or damaged during the Iran war, highlighting the scale and cost of the conflict.

The report, based on information from the Pentagon, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), and multiple news reports, states that the losses included fighter jets, helicopters, unmanned aircraft, and military drones.

According to the report, the overall cost of the war has exceeded $29 billion, including expenses related to aircraft repairs, recovery operations, and military deployments.

Among the incidents cited, two F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets crashed in Kuwait on March 2 due to a friendly-fire incident. All six crew members survived after safely ejecting.

The report also notes that another F-15E was lost during an air operation over Iran on April 5, while an F-35A stealth fighter jet was reportedly damaged by Iranian ground fire during combat operations.

The findings provide one of the clearest pictures yet of the military and financial costs borne by the United States during the conflict.
