Police destroys poppy cultivation in Pulwama
Pulwama, April 18: Continuing its sustained drive against drug menace, Pulwama Police acted on a specific input regarding illegal cultivation of poppy in village Payer area of the district.
Acting promptly on the information, a police team reached the spot where one individual namely Ab Hamid Beigh S/o Mohd Ahsan Beigh R/o Payer, Pulwama was found to have illegally cultivated poppy on his land.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 57/2026 under sections 8/18 of NDPS Act has been registered PS Pulwama and investigation has been set into motion.
During the operation, officials from Revenue, Excise and Agriculture departments were also called on the spot. After completing all necessary codal formalities, the illegal poppy cultivation was destroyed on the spot and the accused was arrested.
Pulwama Police reiterates its commitment towards eradication of drug menace and urges the general public to come forward with any information related to drug abuse or illegal cultivation.
