Two arrested with contraband substances in Bandipora
BANDIPORA — Police arrested two persons and registered separate cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act during naka checking in Ajas area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district, officials said on Wednesday.
The arrests were made at a naka at Zadoo, Ajas, where police intercepted a person travelling from Ganderbal towards Bandipora. During a search of his motorcycle, bearing registration number JK01AF-9058, police allegedly recovered a charas-like substance and psychotropic tablets.
The accused was identified as Mohd Asrar Tantray, a resident of Patipora, Saloora, Ganderbal. A case under FIR No. 219/2026 and Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Sumbal.
In a separate incident at the same naka, police intercepted another person travelling from Ajas towards SK Payeen and allegedly recovered a charas-like substance from his possession.
The accused was identified as Javaid Ahmad Rather, a resident of New Colony, Ajas. Police registered FIR No. 221/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Sumbal.
