Seven drug peddlers arrested in separate operations in Anantnag

ANANTNAG — Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested seven alleged drug peddlers in separate operations in Anantnag district and recovered 3.118 kg of ganja and 55 grams of charas from their possession, officials said on Saturday.

Police said three persons were arrested at Hatigam Crossing by a team from Police Station Srigufwara while they were travelling on a scooty. They were identified as Jahangir Ayoub Fashoo, Amanul Azam Dar and Sahib Amin Dar. Police said 1.378 kg of ganja and 12 grams of charas were recovered from them.

In another operation at Nowshara Crossing, Srigufwara police arrested Basit Rashid Bhat and Mujeeb Mudasir Bhat and recovered 1.740 kg of ganja, they said.

Meanwhile, Police Post Sherbagh arrested Mohd Rafiq Mochi at Sarnal Chicken Mohalla on High Ground Road and recovered 20 grams of charas from his possession.

Police Post Sangam also apprehended Muna, a resident of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, in the Sangam area while he allegedly tried to flee. A search led to the recovery of 23 grams of charas, police said.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at the respective police stations and further investigations are underway. — (KIMS)
