Properties of drug peddlers’ worth ₹1.35 crore attached in Srinagar

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday attached two immovable properties worth approximately ₹1.35 crore belonging to alleged drug peddlers in Srinagar under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

According to a police statement, the action was taken by Srinagar Police as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan to dismantle narcotics networks and target assets allegedly acquired through proceeds of drug trafficking.

In the first case, Police attached a double-storey residential house situated at Nadir Gund, Pir Bagh, Hyderpora, Srinagar, worth approximately ₹70 lakh, belonging to Aqib Farooq, son of Farooq Ahmad, resident of Nadir Gund, Pir Bagh, Hyderpora.

The attachment was carried out in connection with FIR No. 16/2025 registered under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act.

In another action, Police Station Rainawari attached a single-storey residential house constructed on five marlas of land at Inderhama Gassu, Batapora, Hazratbal, Srinagar, worth approximately ₹65 lakh, belonging to Azan Parvaiz Giltsaaz, son of Parvaiz Ahmad Giltsaaz, originally a resident of Kani Mohalla, Rainawari, and presently residing at Inderhama Gassu, Batapora, Hazratbal.

The property was attached in connection with FIR No. 09/2023 registered under Sections 8/21/29 of the NDPS Act.

Police said that during the course of investigation, both properties were identified as allegedly acquired through proceeds generated from narcotics trafficking and drug peddling.

Accordingly, the properties were attached under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, including Section 68-F, subject to confirmation by the Competent Authority.

The action forms part of Srinagar Police’s continued efforts to dismantle the financial infrastructure of drug trafficking networks by identifying and confiscating assets generated through illicit activities.

Police reiterated that strict legal and financial action will continue against individuals involved in narcotics-related offences. — (KIMS)
