Police solve theft case in Reasi; three arrested, stolen cash recovered
REASI — Police on Thursday have solved a cash theft case reported from Charan Paduka Temple in Banganga areas of Reasi with the arrest of three accused and recovery of the stolen cash, officials said.
The case was registered after a complaint was lodged on September 29 by Janak Singh, son of Sobha Ram, a resident of Purana Daroor, Katra, regarding the theft of cash from the temple’s cash room. Accordingly, FIR No. 309/2026 under Sections 3(5)/61(2)/305/331(4) of the BNS was registered at Police Station Katra.
During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage, conducted technical surveillance and questioned witnesses to identify those involved. The investigation led to the arrest of the main accused, Lakhvinder Singh, son of Dhanetar Singh, a resident of Nakki Majalta, Udhampur.
Based on his disclosures, police also arrested Pujari Surjeet Kumar, son of Jaipal Sharma, a resident of Dasanu, Reasi, and pony operator Krishan Lal, son of Vijay Ram, a resident of Ponsali Salal, Reasi.
Police said the stolen cash was subsequently recovered from the Banganga area based on the leads developed during the investigation.
Further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events and ascertain the role of all persons involved. — (KIMS)
