REASI — Police in Reasi has recovered 67 missing mobile phones worth ₹12.60 lakh during August and September, taking the total number of phones recovered and returned to their rightful owners this year to 273, officials said on Monday.

The Cyber Police Station, Reasi, traced the phones belonging to local residents as well as pilgrims visiting the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and Shiv Khori Shrine.

Police said the recovered phones are being handed over to their rightful owners after completion of legal formalities. In the case of pilgrims who have already left the district, the phones will be sent to their respective addresses through courier or parcel services.

The police also said the Cyber Police Station has traced ₹36.12 lakh lost by victims in various cyber fraud cases reported during 2026. Of this, ₹23.60 lakh has already been refunded to victims following court orders, while the remaining amount is under legal process.

Reasi Police appealed to citizens and pilgrims to immediately report missing mobile phones at the nearest police station or police post and provide the device’s IMEI number to facilitate tracing.

Pilgrims who have already left Reasi without reporting the loss can share details of their missing phones, along with the IMEI number, at sspreasi@jkpolice.gov.in.

Police also advised people to report cyber fraud immediately by calling 1930 or through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. — (KIMS)
