Police attaches land worth ₹1 crore belonging to 2 absconders in UAPA case in Handwara

HANDWARA — Police in Handwara has initiated the attachment of 8 kanals and 13 marlas of land, worth approximately ₹1 crore, belonging to two absconders in connection with a 2003 case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), officials said on Saturday.

The properties are situated at Kohru and Udipora in Langate and belong to Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Abdullah Bhat, a resident of Kohru, and Manzoor Ahmad Lone, son of Gh. Qadir Lone, a resident of Udipora, police said.

According to police, Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, who is stated to be residing in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, owns 1 kanal and 2 marlas of land at Kohru. Manzoor Ahmad Lone, who is stated to be residing in Basnada in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, owns 7 kanals and 11 marlas of land at Udipora.

The attachment proceedings have been initiated pursuant to directions from the competent court in connection with FIR No. 98/2003 registered at Police Station Handwara under relevant provisions of the UAPA, police said. — (KIMS)
