Police arrest 3 in counterfeit currency case in Jammu; fake notes, printing material seized
JAMMU — Police on Tuesday have arrested three persons in connection with the alleged printing and manufacturing of counterfeit currency at a rented premises in the Chowadhi area of Jammu, officials said.
The action was taken by Police Post Sainik Colony, under Police Station Channi Himmat, following reliable information about suspected counterfeit currency-related activities at the premises.
The accused have been identified as Vijay Sahani of Siwan, Bihar, presently residing at Preet Nagar, Digana; Indrajeet Kumar of Sahib Ganj, Jharkhand, presently residing at Trikuta Nagar; and Rahul Ahirwar of Chattarpur, Madhya Pradesh, presently residing at Marble Market.
During a search of the premises, police recovered suspected low-quality counterfeit currency notes of ₹100 denomination amounting to ₹13,500, besides a printing machine, paper cutter, ink bottles of different colours, one toka and other documents and material suspected to be linked to the activity.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 269/2026 under Sections 178, 180, 181 and 3(5) of the BNS and Section 4/25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Channi Himmat. Further investigation is underway.
Police said the investigation is aimed at establishing the modus operandi, tracing the source and intended circulation of the suspected counterfeit currency and identifying the involvement of other persons, if any. — (KIMS)
