PDP urges CM to intervene in MBBS interns’ hunger strike

SRINAGAR — The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene in the ongoing hunger strike by MBBS interns in J&K, alleging that college authorities were threatening to terminate their careers and pressuring their parents to make them withdraw the protest.

In a post on X, the PDP appealed to Abdullah to stop what it described as “intimidation” of the protesting interns and initiate a direct dialogue with them to address their demands.

“This is not how a government should treat its young doctors,” the party said, calling on the administration to engage with the interns and resolve the issue.

The PDP said peaceful protest was a democratic right and termed alleged threats against the interns and their families “unacceptable.” — (KIMS)
