Over 4 kg charas recovered in Bandipora, 3 drug peddlers arrested: Police
SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday arrested three alleged drug peddlers and recovered over four kilograms of charas powder-like substance during naka checking in the Hajin area of Bandipora district.
According to a police statement, a police party from Police Station Hajin was conducting naka checking at Madwan when three individuals attempted to flee after noticing the police team. The suspects were apprehended and searched in accordance with the provisions of law.
During the search, police recovered 1.230 kilograms of charas powder-like substance from Sayar Ahmad Malla, son of Abdul Rahim Malla, resident of Madwan; 1.660 kilograms from Mehraj-ud-Din Hajam, son of Ghulam Mohammad Hajam, resident of Madwan; and 1.200 kilograms from Aamir Tariq Ganie, son of Tariq Ganie, resident of Bangar Mohalla, Hajin.
Police said the total recovery amounted to 4.090 kilograms of charas powder-like substance.
Accordingly, FIR No. 87/2026 under Sections 8/20 and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Hajin.
All three accused have been arrested, while the recovered contraband has been seized as per legal procedure. Further investigation is underway, the statement said. — (KIMS)
