Omar Abdullah Faces ₹100 Crore Defamation Notice from BJP

BJP Demands Proof or Public Apology from Omar Abdullah

*Srinagar, July 13 The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu & Kashmir, has issued a strong warning to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over his recent allegations that the BJP was attempting to “poach” MLAs by offering them between ₹20 crore and ₹30 crore.

According to BJP Media Incharge Sajid Yousuf Shah, the party has sent a formal letter to the Chief Minister through post, demanding that he either produce credible evidence to support his claims or issue a public apology.

The BJP has stated that if Omar Abdullah fails to substantiate his allegations or refuses to apologise, the party will file a defamation suit seeking ₹100 crore in damages.

The controversy stems from remarks made by Omar Abdullah while addressing party workers at Dargah, where he alleged that the BJP was trying to lure legislators with large sums of money.

The BJP has termed these allegations as baseless, defamatory, and politically motivated, insisting that such serious claims must be backed by evidence.

The party has now made it clear that it is prepared to pursue legal action if its demand is not met.
