NCB Cracks Down in Lolab: 2.2 Kg Charas Seized, Search On for Absconding Accomplice
Kupwara, April 23: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has intensified its anti-drug operations in north Kashmir’s Lolab area, with a team reaching Police Station Lalpora to seek assistance from local police in conducting targeted searches.
The development comes after the NCB Jammu unit arrested a 25-year-old labourer, Muneer Khan, a resident of Diver Kakadpati, Lalpora Lolab, in Jammu. During the operation, officials recovered 2.2 kilograms of charas from his possession.
Following the arrest, the NCB team has moved to Lolab to track down his alleged accomplice, Shafiq Khan (30), a carpenter from Kakadpati Lolab, who is currently absconding. Security agencies have launched search operations in the area to apprehend him.
Preliminary inputs also indicate that Mukhtar Ahmad Khan, brother of the absconding accused, had exfiltrated to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in 1994.
In a related background, officials noted that Sharif Din Khan, uncle of the arrested accused, was a locally trained militant who was killed in an encounter in the forests of Diver Lolab.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to continue strict action against drug networks and associated elements, as part of the ongoing crackdown to curb narcotics trafficking in the region.
