1993-Batch Telangana Cadre Officer Headed SIB Srinagar Post-370 Abrogation
Srinagar, June 25: Senior IPS officer Mahesh Dixit has been appointed as the new Director of the Intelligence Bureau, India’s premier internal intelligence agency.
Dixit, a 1993-batch officer of the Telangana cadre, spent crucial years serving as chief of the IB’s Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau in Srinagar, overseeing Jammu, Kashmir, and Leh.
Officials said Dixit played a pivotal role in maintaining internal stability and tracking regional security challenges after the abrogation of Article 370. His tenure in Kashmir is credited with strengthening ground-level intelligence and coordination during a sensitive period.
His appointment comes at a time when internal security remains a key focus. Dixit succeeds the outgoing IB chief and is expected to assume charge shortly.(GNS)
