LG Manoj Sinha Chairs High-Level Security Review Meeting; Orders Intensified Anti-Terror Operations, Enhanced Safety Measures for Non-Local Workers

 

Directs DCs, SSPs to Review SoPs, Ensure Insurance and Police Registration of Migrant Labourers; Calls for Dignified Last Rites for Kulgam Terror Attack Victims

Srinagar, Aug 1 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday chaired a high-level security review meeting to assess the prevailing security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, with a special focus on counter-terror operations, safety of non-local labourers, security arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra, and strengthening the overall security grid across the Union Territory.

During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor directed all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to undertake a comprehensive review of the Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) established for the protection of labourers from outside Jammu and Kashmir.

He further instructed that employers must ensure all workers from other states and Union Territories are covered under insurance schemes and that their complete details are properly registered with the local police and district administration to enhance their safety and security.

Emphasising the need for a robust response to terrorism, the Lieutenant Governor called upon the security agencies to further intensify precise and high-impact anti-terror operations aimed at neutralising terrorists and dismantling their support networks.

“We must intensify precise, high-impact anti-terror operations to neutralise the terrorists,” the Lieutenant Governor said during the meeting.

Referring to the recent terror attack in Kulgam, which claimed the lives of two non-local labourers, the Lieutenant Governor instructed the concerned authorities to ensure dignified last rites for the victims and extend all possible assistance and support to their bereaved families.

The meeting also reviewed the security arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra, with discussions focusing on further strengthening the multi-layered security grid to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.

The high-level meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary, Home Department Chandraker Bharti, Special DG Coordination PHQ S.J.M. Gillani, ADGP CID Nitish Kumar, Commissioner/Secretary GAD M. Raju, Inspector Generals of Police (IGPs), Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, SSPs and other senior civil and police officials.(KNC)
