JKEEGA delegation meets Chief Secretary, seeks resolution of engineers’ pending issues
Srinagar, Jun 17: A delegation of the Jammu & Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) on Wednesday met Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and sought resolution of several long-pending service and cadre-related issues concerning graduate engineers in the Power Development Department.
The delegation, led by JKEEGA General Secretary Er. Pirzada Hidayatullah, submitted a memorandum highlighting various issues affecting engineers across the department.
According to a statement, the association raised the issue of implementation of the State Administrative Council (SAC) decision dated October 22, 2019, regarding the regularization of engineers at all levels, including retired and serving officers. It also sought early approval of a fresh proposal pending before the Establishment-cum-Selection Committee.
The delegation further highlighted the shortage of officers in the department, stating that 27 posts from Managing Director to Superintending Engineer level and 164 posts from Executive Engineer to Assistant Engineer level are currently vacant. It said the vacancies have resulted in excessive additional charge assignments, affecting departmental efficiency and service delivery.
The association also urged one-time utilization of pre-unbundling 20 percent Direct Recruitment Quota vacancies at the Assistant Engineer level for promotion of eligible in-service degree-holder Junior Engineers. It maintained that the proposal is in line with the recommendations of a committee headed by the Managing Director, JPDCL, and the provisions of SO-109 dated March 20, 2020.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured them that the genuine concerns of the engineering fraternity would receive due consideration and that necessary intervention would be made for their early resolution.
The JKEEGA delegation expressed satisfaction over the outcome of the meeting and thanked the Chief Secretary for his time and positive response. The association expressed hope that the issues raised would be addressed expeditiously in the interest of the Power Development Department and the engineering community of Jammu and Kashmir.
Other members of the delegation included Er. Fayaz Wani, Er. Hur-e-Yasrab, Er. Zahoor Bakshi, Er. Farhan Manzoor Shah, Er. Tufail Khan, Er. Asif Iqbal, Er. Aamir Masoodi, Er. Khurram Nazir and Er. Yawar Fayaz, among others.
