Srinagar, July 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted a four-member inquiry committee to examine the audit and data analysis of cardiology procedures performed at Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and AB PM-JAY SEHAT schemes.
According to the government order, the committee has been tasked with scrutinizing records, analyzing data related to cardiology procedures, and assessing the implementation of the AB PM-JAY and SEHAT schemes. The panel will examine whether the procedures were carried out in accordance with the prescribed medical and administrative guidelines and submit its findings and recommendations to the Government within the stipulated timeframe.
The inquiry is aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability, and the proper utilization of public healthcare resources while strengthening confidence in the healthcare system.
The announcement has sparked widespread public discussion across Kashmir. While many have welcomed the Government’s decision to conduct an independent inquiry, a large number of people have also expressed their trust in Dr. Syed Maqbool, citing his years of service and the treatment they say they or their family members received under his care. Many believe the inquiry will provide an opportunity to establish the facts and clear any doubts through an impartial and evidence-based process.
Several residents have said they are confident that the committee’s findings should be based solely on official records and medical evidence rather than speculation. They have also urged the authorities to ensure that cardiology services at GMC Anantnag continue without interruption so that patients do not face any hardship while the inquiry is underway.
The committee is expected to submit a comprehensive report to the Government after completing its audit and examination of the relevant records.
