J&K govt approves ₹16.36 crore for restoration of historic Temple, Mosque

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved two major heritage conservation projects worth ₹16.36 crore for the revival and restoration of prominent religious sites in Ramban and Shopian.

An official statement said the government has sanctioned ₹10.31 crore for the revival and restoration of the Sarvadhar Chaumanda Mata Mandir in Ramban. The project aims to preserve the temple’s religious and cultural significance as part of the government’s broader efforts to safeguard the region’s heritage.

In a separate decision, the government has approved ₹6.05 crore for the restoration of the historic Jamia Masjid Sharief in Shopian. The mosque will be restored on heritage lines, with the project focusing on preserving its distinctive architectural character and rich cultural legacy.

The government said the approvals reflect its commitment to conserving important religious and cultural heritage sites across Jammu and Kashmir while ensuring their preservation for future generations. — (KIMS)
