J&K govt approves ₹15.22 crore upgrade of Kathua grid station

JAMMU (KIMS) — The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved the augmentation of the Grid Station at Kathua by enhancing its capacity from 3×50 MVA to 4×50 MVA, along with allied infrastructure works, at an estimated cost of ₹15.22 crore.

The project aims to strengthen the region’s power transmission network, improve grid reliability, and ensure a better quality of electricity supply to consumers in Kathua and adjoining areas.

Officials said the augmentation will help meet the growing electricity demand, reduce overloading on the existing infrastructure, and enhance the overall efficiency and stability of the power distribution system. The allied infrastructure works included in the project are expected to support seamless integration of the additional capacity and improve operational performance. — (KIMS)
