Hope and Health Foundation, SKIMS Medical College Organise Trauma Reception and Resuscitation Workshop

 

Srinagar, July 1: Reinforcing the importance of strengthening emergency and trauma care services, Hope and Health Foundation, in collaboration with the Department of Emergency Medicine, SKIMS Medical College and Hospital, Srinagar, successfully organised a one-day Trauma Reception and Resuscitation (TRR) Workshop on Wednesday. The workshop witnessed the participation of 100 healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and emergency care providers from various healthcare institutions.

 

The workshop was formally inaugurated and attended by Dr. Fazlul Qadri Parray, Principal, SKIMS Medical College and Hospital, Dr. Abdul Ahad Wani, Head, Department of Emergency Medicine, and Dr. Shafa Adeeba, Medical Superintendent, who appreciated the initiative and highlighted the need for continuous professional training to strengthen trauma and emergency care services in the region.

 

The workshop was led by renowned emergency medicine expert Dr. Shamim Ahmad Bhat, Head of Emergency, King Saud Medical City, Riyadh, along with faculty members Dr. Zahid Rashid and Dr. Faizan Shakeel. The faculty conducted interactive lectures, case discussions, and high-fidelity simulation-based training sessions, allowing participants to manage realistic trauma scenarios in a controlled learning environment. The practical sessions focused on trauma reception, primary assessment, resuscitation, teamwork, communication, and timely decision-making during medical emergencies.

 

Speaking on behalf of Hope and Health Foundation, the organisers stated, “Trauma remains one of the leading causes of preventable deaths, making regular skill-based training essential for healthcare professionals. We are grateful to SKIMS Medical College and Hospital for their collaboration and to our distinguished faculty members and participants for making this workshop a great success. Hope and Health Foundation remains committed to organising such capacity-building initiatives to strengthen emergency healthcare services across Jammu and Kashmir.”

 

Lead trainer Dr. Shamim Ahmad Bhat appreciated the enthusiasm and active participation of the delegates and remarked that continuous training and simulation-based learning are indispensable for improving the quality of trauma care and saving lives.
