SRINAGAR — The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of Crime Branch J&K has filed a chargesheet against two individuals for allegedly duping job seekers of more than Rs 15 lakh on the pretext of providing overseas employment.
According to an official statement, the chargesheet in FIR No. 32/2026 has been filed before the Court of PT&E, Srinagar, under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC and Sections 10 and 24 of the Emigration Act.
The accused have been identified as Sajjad Abdullah, a resident of Hamdaniya Colony, Bemina, Srinagar, and Jahangir Ahmad Tanky, a resident of Sheshgari Mohalla, Khanyar, Srinagar.
The case was registered following complaints alleging that the accused, proprietors of Al-Aqsa Global Services Pvt. Ltd., based in Moomin-Abad, Batamaloo, lured people with promises of lucrative overseas employment in reputed foreign companies and collected advance payments exceeding Rs 15 lakh.
However, the promised jobs were not provided, while cheques issued towards refunds were dishonoured due to insufficient funds, the statement said.
Investigation revealed that the consultancy was registered as an excursion agent for tour and travel services and not as a recruiting agent. It was allegedly operating without the mandatory registration for overseas recruitment.
The investigation further established that both accused received money in their personal bank accounts from complainants but failed to fulfil their promises. Jahangir Ahmad Tanky could not be traced despite sustained efforts and has been absconding since 2025.
The EOW said the investigation had been concluded as proved and the chargesheet filed before the competent court for judicial determination.
