EOW chargesheets Pulwama man for allegedly forging LG’s signature

SRINAGAR — The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Crime Branch Kashmir, has filed a chargesheet against a Pulwama resident for allegedly forging an official communication using the signature and letterhead of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir

The chargesheet has been filed before the Court of Sub-Judge, Srinagar, in FIR No. 29/2026 against Saqlain Mushtaq Dar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, a resident of Deeri, Pulwama.

According to the EOW, the case pertains to a forged communication purportedly addressed to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Anantnag, in which the accused allegedly impersonated the Lieutenant Governor of J&K.

The communication was allegedly prepared using a counterfeit official letterhead and forged signature, with the purported objective of unlawfully influencing the functioning of the Anantnag District Police Administration.

The case has been registered under Sections 204, 319(2), 336(2) and 340(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The EOW said that during the investigation, the allegations were substantiated by the evidence collected, and the offences were found to have been committed.

The investigation has accordingly been concluded as proved, and the chargesheet has been submitted before the court for judicial determination.
